NOTES: George was the second eldest of ten children. Even though
George was brought up in Cardiff, Wales he was one of four children
born in Nottinghamshire, England.
George and Alice had three children, a son (one
of twins, one died) and a daughter, my mother Yvonne-Marie Winifred.
CERTIFICATE OF PLASTERERS: George was duly admitted
a member of the Cardiff Branch of the National Association of Operative
Plasterers on 20th July 1901. Card was presented to him on 21st July
1951.
He attended the City and Guilds of London Institute, Department of
Technology, and received a Grade 1 medal. He was a master plasterer
by trade and known to have an artistic skill in repairing statues
and carvings around and about Oxfordshire, where they lived. He also
worked as a pressed steel factory worker, near Oxford.
George suffered all of his life with asthma, and
then emphysema which was his downfall. He died at his home 60 Wharton
Road, Headington at the age of 71.
